In 2019, the flow of tourists to Georgia from a number of countries decreased, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Tourism Administration.
Last year, 141,997 tourists visited Georgia from Iran (a decrease of 51.2 percent), 6,815 tourists from Romania (a decrease of 3.7 percent), 6,559 tourists from Moldova (a decrease of 13.1 percent) and 386 tourists from Iceland (a decrease of 12.8 percent).
The number of tourists arriving to Georgia from Caribbean countries was reduced by 474 people (33.1 percent).
As reported, 10,483 tourists visited Georgia from the United Arab Emirates (a decrease of 15.3 percent), 3,452 tourists - from Oman (a decrease of 30.5 percent) and 1,684 tourists - from Iraq (a decrease of 19 percent).
Meanwhile, in 2019, the largest number of tourists to Georgia came from Azerbaijan (1.509 million, an increase of 7.1 percent).
Russia ranks second in the number of tourists to Georgia (1.443 million, an increase of 4.7 percent).
In 2019, 482,418 tourists visits were made from EU countries to Georgia, which is 25.7 percent more than in 2018.
Particular growth in the flow of tourists to Georgia was observed from Poland - an increase of 31.7 percent, Italy - an increase of 22.4 percent, Germany - an increase of 38.2 percent, France - an increase of 28.3 percent, the UK - an increase of 27.4 percent.
As a result, due to this growth, the number of visits of tourists (the visitor who spent at least one night in Georgia) to Georgia amounted to 5.080 million, which is 323,658 more than in 2018 and shows an increase of 6.8 percent.
In 2019, visits by international travelers (who have been in the country for more than six months, not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) to Georgia reached 9.357 million.
According to the statistics, in 2019, the number of international travelers to Georgia increased by 7.8 percent compared to 2018.
