Number of tourists in Georgian resorts grows

The number of visitors to the tourist destinations in Georgian Adjara has increased by 94 percent in 2019 compared to 2018, Department of Tourism and Resorts of Adjara said, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

Last year, over 238,600 people visited tourist facilities of Adjara.

The largest number of visitors (growth by 13 precent) was recorded on the tourist routes of Kobuleti, Keda (an increase of 57 percent), Khelvachauri (an increase of 94 percent), Khulo (an increase of 61 percent) and Shuakhevi (an increase of 30 percent).

"I am glad that the number of travelers in highland Adjara has increased both on tourist routes and in family-type hotels, catering facilities, museums and other places," said Tinatin Zoidze, chairman of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Adjara.

According to her, at this stage, 15 destinations operate in Adjara. The department is actively working to offer more new tourism products to guests of the region.

"The development of the tourism potential of the region will give us the opportunity to make Adjara an attractive place at all seasons," said Zoidze.
