A total of 1,471,677 foreign tourists have visited Iran from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to January 1, 2022, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
According to the report, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the issuance of tourist visas to Iran has been suspended, later resuming as of October 23, 2021. Until then, it was possible to visit Iran only for health and trade purposes.
Within the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), a total of 835,815 people visited Iran. Meanwhile, from October 23, 2021 to January 1, 2022, the figure amounted to 635,862.
Also, over 2 months (from October 23 through December 21, 2021), about 226,000 Iraqi citizens, 103,000 Afghan citizens, 90,000 Turkish citizens, 22,000 Azerbaijani citizens, 18,000 Bahraini citizens, 12,000 Omani citizens, 11,000 Pakistani citizens, as well as 6,000 Russian citizens, 2,000 German citizens and 88,000 citizens of other countries visited Iran.
Meanwhile, from December 22, 2021 to January 1, 2022, a total of 23,000 Iraqi citizens, 10,000 Afghan citizens, 6,000 Turkish citizens, 3,000 Pakistani citizens, 2,000 Azerbaijani citizens, 2,000 Omani citizens, 703 Russian citizens, 472 Germany citizens, 341 Bahraini citizens and 6,000 citizens of other countries visited the country.
