BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 18. As many as 1.602 million foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries visited Azerbaijan in 2022, which is twice as much as in the same period in 2021, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee.

According to the committee, of the total number of visitors to Azerbaijan, 27.9 percent arrived from Russia, 19.5 percent from Turkiye, 10.6 percent from Iran, 6 percent from Saudi Arabia, 5.1 percent from Georgia, 3.2 percent from Pakistan, 3.8 percent from India, 2.6 percent from the UAE, 1.9 percent from Kazakhstan, 1.8 percent - from Ukraine, 1.5 percent - from Israel, 1.4 percent – from Kuwait, 1.6 percent – from Uzbekistan, 1.2 percent each – from Oman and Belarus, and 10.8 percent - from other countries.

The number of visitors from Oman increased by 20.4 times over the year, from Saudi Arabia - by 10.9 times, from Kuwait - by 9.9 times, from the UAE - by 2.4 times, from Israel - by 3.6 times, from Pakistan - by 17.5 times, from India - by 10.6 times, from the US - by 2.8, from Germany - by 2.6 times, from France - by 2.1 times, from Uzbekistan - by 6.2 times, from Kazakhstan - by 4.4 times, from Russia - by 1.7 times, from the UK - by 1.9 times, from Ukraine - by 1.6 times, from Iran - by 36 percent, from Turkiye - by 1.6 times, and from Georgia - by 31.2 percent.

The number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad increased by 1.5 from January through December 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, reaching 1.48 million people.
