BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. The total number of tourists from Central Asian countries who visited Azerbaijan significantly grew in January 2023, Trend reports via Azerbaijan's State Tourism Agency.

According to the agency, this figure reached 5,309 tourists, up by 3.83 times on an annual basis.

The agency said that the number of visitors from Kazakhstan amounted to 2,100 people (an increase of 3.04 times per year), Turkmenistan - 1,476 (an increase of 4.96 times per year), Uzbekistan – 1,427 (an increase of 5.04 times per year), Kyrgyzstan - 141 (an increase of 80.77 percent per year), and Tajikistan - 165 (an increase of 4.58 times over the year).

For the last five years, a total of 411,141 foreigners from Central Asia (167,052 - from Kazakhstan; 119,201 - from Turkmenistan; 96,278 - from Uzbekistan; 15,467 - from Kyrgyzstan, and 13,143 - from Tajikistan) visited Azerbaijan.

As many as 73,823 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan in 2022, which is 4.75 times more than in 2021 (15,516).

Last year, over 1.6 million foreign citizens visited Azerbaijan in general, which is more than two times higher than in 2021 (790,062).
