Over 7M passengers transported by air in Kazakhstan

Number of passengers transported by Kazakh air companies stood at 7.1 million people during the first ten months of 2019, which is 6 percent more compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan’s airports served 14.8 million passengers over the ten months, which is nine percent more than during the same period of 2018.

Number of transit air passengers stood at 852,000 people, which is 11 percent more than within the same period last year. By the end of this year, the number is expected to exceed one million passengers.

According to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program, Kazakhstan ranks third among CIS countries with 74 percent of compliance. The level of aviation security is 83 percent, which is 21 percent better than after the audit in 2009.

The improved indicator exceeds by 11 percent the value of the world average of 72 percent.

The development of the international routes continues in Kazakhstan.

Since the beginning of 2019 the following international routes have been opened: Almaty-Baku, Zhukovsky-Karaganda, Zhukovsky-Kokshetau, Zhukovsky-Petropavlovsk, Nur-Sultan-Novosibirsk, Moscow-Semey, Nur-Sultan-Ulan-Bator, Nur-Sultan -Prague, Nur Sultan-Tokyo. Currently, airlines operate in 99 international directions through Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan has almost completed the modernization of its air transport infrastructure: 16 runways and 13 airport terminals have been reconstructed in the country

In October 2019, the reconstruction of the runway at Kostanay airport was completed and put into temporary operation. By the end of this year, the reconstruction of the runway at Balkhash airport will be completed. The construction of the international airport in Turkestan will continue.

Pavlodar region’s akimat (administrative center) is completing the construction of aerodrome with a hard surface in the vicinity of Bayanaul. Commissioning is scheduled for next year for the summer season. Construction of another 13 airfields is planned over the course of next five years.
