The number of vehicles registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 1.4 million vehicles in 2019, which is 12.2 percent more compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports with reference to the data of KazAutoProm, the association of Kazakhstan’s automobile industry’s ventures.

Thus, 1.3 million vehicles of the number accounted for secondary registration, which is 11.2 percent more than during 2018. The number of cars registered for the first time amounted to 106,758 units, which is 27 percent more than during 2018.

The demand for electric cars decreased in Kazakhstan during the reporting year: the number of electric cars registered in 2019 amounted to 33 cars compared to 56 cars in 2018.

Over two thirds of the vehicles, which were secondary registered in 2019, were over 10 years old. The largest share of these vehicles accounts for cars over 20 years old (41.6 percent); the cars from 11 to 20 years old comprised 27.5 percent, from 4 to 7 years - 20.6 percent, from 8 to 10 years - 6 percent, from 1 to 3 years - 3.5 percent, and less than 1 year -0.8 percent.

“These dynamics indicate continuous aging of the country’s auto park. Thus, the share of vehicles over 20 years old in secondary sale amounted to 41.6 percent in 2019 compared to 39.7 percent in 2018, whereas the share of vehicles aged 1 to 3 years decreased from 4.5 percent to 3.5 percent,” the report said.

The largest number of secondary registrations was observed in Almaty region (210,898 cars), Almaty city (174,371 cars) and Turkestan region (127,384 cars).
