By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will suspend all flights from the Kutaisi International Airport of Georgia to Europe except to Budapest from March 18 to April 3, 2020, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Georgia, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

The company said that individuals affected by the changes and those individuals who have booked tickets through the company’s website or mobile application will receive an email notification.

The company has promised to reimburse 120 percent of the ticket price for online customers onto Wizz credit accounts, which can be used within 24 months. Cash reimbursement will take longer, and the customers will receive back the full value of their ticket.

To avoid further spread of coronavirus, the Georgian government has announced on March 16 that Georgia closes its border for all foreign citizens for two weeks. The ban will come into effect starting March 18.

As of now Georgia, has 33 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Most of the cases are connected people returning from Italy.

Some 637 people are under quarantine in Georgia and 54 persons remain in hospitals under the observation of doctors.

Amid the new coronavirus outbreak, Georgia has suspended direct flights with China, Iran and Italy, which are currently the largest centers of the outbreak.

The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. The symptoms include cough, headache, fatigue, fever, aching and difficulty breathing. It is primarily spread through airborne contact or contact with contaminated objects.
