The funds for maintenance and development of Azerbaijani roads allocated in 2019, exceeded 1.8 billion manat ($1 billion), Trend reports referring to a report on the activity of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers in 2019.
According to the report, the volume of investments allocated for these purposes in 2019 increased by 7.9 percent.
According to Azerbaijan’s government, in the reporting year, 322 million manat ($189.4 million) was allocated for repair and maintenance of public highways and motor roads of Baku, as well as road facilities from the Motor Roads target budget fund.
The domestic state investments amounted to 902 million manat ($530.5 million), allocations from the reserve budget fund - 103.8 million manat ($61 million), credit funds - 414.3 million manat ($243.7 million), the share of the Azerbaijani government in the loans - 103.7 million manat ($61 million).
In 2019, the reconstruction of roads with a total length of 1,376 kilometers was carried out in Azerbaijan, including 139.8 kilometers of nationwide roads, 908.8 kilometers of local roads and 328 kilometers of roads in Baku and Sumgayit.
Moreover, during the reporting year, 14 bridges were built, 13 pedestrian crossings and 17 bridges were repaired.
