International airport construction underway in Kazakhstan's Turkistan

Construction of the new passenger terminal of the international airport in Kazakhstan’s Shymkent city to be finished by Dec. 2020, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s prime minister.

The topic was discussed during a working trip of Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin to Turkestan region where he inspected the construction process of transport and socio-cultural infrastructure in Shymkent and Turkistan cities.

While in Shymkent city Mamin got acquainted with the construction progress of the new passenger terminal of the international airport. The capacity of the terminal is to be 2,000 passengers per hour, and its commissioning is planned for December 2020.

Mamin also got acquainted with construction of a new international airport in Turkestan city and a highway leading to it.

The airport is located 16 km from the regional center and will be commissioned in Sep. 2020. The terminal’s capacity is to be 3 million passengers per year.

Mamin also visited the construction sites of the Congress Hall, a stadium, the Schoolchildren’s Palace, a sports complex, a city park, a drama theater, the regional science and universal library, the Uly Dala Eli Center, the Museum of Khoja Ahmed Yassaui, and also inspected the progress of the reconstruction of the National Center of Artisans of the Great Silk Road building.

Mamin also got acquainted with construction of the Rixos Turkistan and Hampton by Hilton hotels, as well as the multifunctional Caravanserai tourist complex. All these hotel and tourist facilities are planned to be commissioned in 2020.

Mamin was also presented with plans for the modernization of the Azret-Sultan Reserve Museum.
