Iran has increased its railway fleet, by adding 88 wagons, said the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Eslami, Trend reports via IRNA.

"A total of 778 wagons were added to the railway network during last Iranian year (started March 21,2019), while the target for the current Iranian year (started March 20,2020) is to increase the number to 2,000 wagons," said Eslami.

"The process of building wagons should be facilitated by preventing bureaucracy and improving administrative management," he said.

"A total of 144 new wagons were added to the railway network from the start of the new Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), while wagons that are not standard will be removed from the network in 2021," he added.

"The Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade plans to carry 100 million tons of cargo during the current year (started March 20,2020) via railway. The cargo transportation would increase by expansion of railway tracks to 500 million tons," said the minister.

"Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade is to provide 80,000 billion rials (about $1.9 billion) worth of loan with 12 percent interest rate to travel agencies that are actively using the railways, air and road routes," said the minister.
