Kazakhstan to resume railway transportation on more local routes

Kazakhstan’s Interdepartmental Commission for Preventing the Coronavirus Spread made additional decisions to reduce coronavirus-related restrictive measures in the country, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the Kazakhstan’s prime minister.

Thus, starting from Jun. 1, 2020 the interregional roadblocks are being removed. However, by the decision of the chief state sanitary doctors and regional akimats (administrative centers), local roadblocks in the areas of coronavirus outbreak can be maintained.

Additionally, railway transport to regional centers and large cities of Kazakhstan, as well as inter-regional bus passenger transport is being resumed.

Passengers will be transported strictly in accordance with the approved sanitary requirements of the Ministry of Healthcare.

Ensuring compliance with established requirements in railway and bus stations will be carried out by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The activities of fitness and spa centers are being resumed, the work of sports and culture facilities is being resumed without spectators, the work of kindergartens, supplementary education organizations (no more than 15 people in a group), research institutes and centers also is being resumed.

From Jun. 15, operations of movie theaters will be resumed and subject to sanitary requirements.

Taking into account the stabilization of the sanitary and epidemiological situation in a number of countries, the interdepartmental commission instructed government bodies to work out the issue of phased resumption of international flights.

The dates of the resumption of international flights will be determined depending on the opening of state borders and the sanitary and epidemiological situation.

On March 15, 2020, Kazakhstan’s president signed a decree introducing an emergency state in Kazakhstan due to the coronavirus outbreak, which came in force on March 16 and was to last till April 15, 2020.

Later, by a decree of Kazakhstan's president, the emergency state period in Kazakhstan was extended till May 1, 2020, and then till May 11, 2020.

Since May 11, 2020, quarantine regime was eased in some and extended in other Kazakh regions and cities based on epidemiological situation in each of them.

The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
