Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 78.04 billion tenge ($193.3 million) over the first five months of 2020, which is 38.4 percent less than during the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
The revenue from passenger transportation in May was 8.9 billion tenge ($22.2 million) which compared to Apr. 2020 is 6.9 times more.
Number of transported passengers amounted to 1.8 million people, which is 3.3 percent less than during the same period of last year.
The number of passengers transported in May amounted to 165,120 people, which is 3.09 times more than in Apr. 2020.
Kazakhstan’s revenue from transportation of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage via air transport amounted to 3.01 billion tenge ($7.4 million) over first five months of 2020, which is 7.7 percent less than during the same period of 2019.
The revenue in May alone amounted to 805.5 million tenge ($1.9 million), which is 2.2 times more than in Apr. 2020.
The volume of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage transported via air transport during the reporting period amounted to 7,690 tons, which is 23.9 percent less compared to the same period of last year.
The volume of cargo transported in May was 1,600 tons, which is 2.5 times more than in Apr. 2020.
Cargo turnover amounted to 21.2 million ton-kilometers which is 43.1 percent less than during the same period of last year.
In March 2020, in order to prevent coronavirus spread in Kazakhstan, the number of flights was reduced by 438 flights per week on international destinations on 97 routes, which makes up 99 percent of all international flights implemented.
Additionally, all domestic flights have been cancelled and no regular air services operated in the country over April 2020.
The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
