Turkey’s Turkish Airlines company is resuming international flights to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the company.

The company said it is working to resume international flights starting in June, and is working to increase the number of the international flights operated.

Thus, the company said that the flights to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city are being resumed. The company will be operating three flights per week to Almaty until the end of June 2020, with further increase to five flights per week starting July 4, 2020.

In turn, talking flights to Uzbekistan, the company said that it will resume flights to Tashkent city starting July 1, 2020. The flights will be operated four flights per week.

Earlier this month, Kazakhstan announced a decision to resume international flights to a number of countries. The flights are being gradually resumed to Turkey, China, South Korea, Thailand, Georgia and Japan as of June 20, 2020.

"The number of flights on international routes will be based on existing intergovernmental agreements on air traffic and subject payload range on each route," the report said.

In March 2020, in order to prevent coronavirus spread in Kazakhstan, the number of flights was reduced by 438 flights per week on international destinations on 97 routes, which makes up 99 percent of all international flights implemented.

Additionally, all domestic flights have been cancelled and no regular air services operated in the country over April 2020.

The first two cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Kazakhstan among those who arrived in Almaty city from Germany on March 13, 2020.
