New Stadler trains to be supplied to Azerbaijan in 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 22

The first trains will be supplied to Azerbaijan in 2022 upon the contracts signed between the Swiss Stadler company and Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, Dina Kazakevich, PR and Marketing Teamleader at Stadler Minsk, told Trend.

"Azerbaijan Railways ordered the first FLIRT single-decker trains in 2019, four of which will be designed as inter-regional and equipped with a diesel-electric drive while three trains - inter-regional, driven by electric traction," Kazakevich added.

Azerbaijan Railways ordered nine KISS double-decker trains in 2015 and 2018, which are used daily.

Azerbaijan Railways and Stadler signed a contract worth 115 million euros for the supply of ten FLIRT (Fast Light Innovative Regional Train) trains.

Stadler is an international rail vehicle manufacturing company headquartered in Busnang in eastern Switzerland. The company offers a wide range of products in the heavy and urban transport segments - high speed trains, intercity trains, regional and suburban heavy trains, underground trains, tram trains and trams.

Stadler also manufactures mainline and shunting locomotives and passenger cars, including the most powerful diesel-electric locomotive in Europe.
