Unloading point created at Georgian section of BTK railway

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

A mechanized point for unloading large-capacity containers has been created on the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway (BTK) in Kartsakhi, which is equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 46 tons, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

As reported, work on the Georgian section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway in the alpine zone is in full swing.

At this stage, the cargo transportation by BTK is operated in a test mode.

The BTK railway has been built on the basis of the Azerbaijani-Georgian-Turkish intergovernmental agreement. At the initial stage, the volume of freight traffic will be at the level of 6.5 million tons of cargo, and up to one million passengers will be transported through this railway.

The BTK can greatly reduce the time of delivery of goods from China to Europe via Azerbaijan, which makes this route especially attractive.
