More 1.6 trillion rials (about $38 million) will be paid for the construction of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway between Ardabil and East Azerbaijan provinces of northwestern Iran in the next two weeks, said Governor of Iran’s Ardabil Province Akbar Behnamjoo, Trend reports citing the governor office’s website.
According to Behnamjoo, the Planning and Budget Organization of Iran plans to pay a total of 10.7 trillion rials (about $254 million) for the construction of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway.
He added that of these funds, 3.8 trillion rials (about $90.4 million) were paid, so far.
The governor emphasized that the railway will be commissioned by the end of the current government (August 2021).
"Currently, there is more than 80 percent progress in the construction of the Ardabil-Mianeh railway. The infrastructure work will be completed by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021)," he said.
The construction of Iran's Ardabil-Mianeh railway began in 2015. The 175-kilometer-long Ardabil-Mianeh railway has 62 tunnels with a length of 23.8 km.
