As many as 35,097 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s Antalya airport from January through July 2020, which is a 84 percent decline in comparison to the same period of 2019, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

“Some 14,986 tons of cargo were handled via domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 56 percent less compared to the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.

“Meanwhile, 20,111 tons of cargo were transported through the Antalya airport via international flights from January through July 2020, which is 89 percent less compared to the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the airport served 3.1 million passengers from January through July 2020, which is an 83 percent decrease compared to the same period of last year.

Some 1.7 million passengers were served on domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 58 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

Around 1.4 million passengers were served on international flights from January through July 2020, which is 90 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

The ministry noted that 27,627 flights were carried out at the Antalya airport from January through July 2020, which is 76 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

Some 15,915 flights were carried out on domestic flights from January through July 2020, which is 47 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

The number of international flights via Antalya airport decreased by 86 percent from January through July 2020, reaching 11,712 compared to the same period of 2019.

The number of flights in Turkey decreased by 50.9 percent and amounted to 431,049 flights from January through July 2020.

From January through July this year, over 42.6 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

During the reporting period, more than 1.2 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports of the country.
