Iran’s Bushehr port boosts its potential

Necessary conditions have been created for the Bushehr port of the Bushehr Province (southern Iran), to have 30,000-ton ships dock there, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Chairman of the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Mohammad Rastad said, Trend reports citing PMO.

He made the remark at a press conference.

The deputy minister stressed that 1.9 trillion rials (about $ 5.2 million) was spent in the Bushehr port for this purpose.

Rastad added that a 666-meters-long and 330-meters-wide area was created within 20 months in the internal waters of the Bushehr Port by cleaning and dredging.

The chairman noted that in addition, a 10,030-meters-long and 150-meters-wide area was created in the external waters of the Bushehr Port by cleaning and dredging during the reporting period.

According to him, the 300-meters-long and 100-meters-wide area around the passenger platform was cleaned and deepened.

"Before this work was done, only 15,000-ton ships could dock at the Bushehr port," he said.
