Trend:

The construction of Shiraz - Boushehr - Asalouyeh railway is ongoing in Fars Province, said the deputy for construction affairs in the Fars Province governorate Mahmoud Rezaie Kouchi, Trend reports via IRNA.

"This project is very important due to strategic location of Asalouyeh and Bushehr regarding cargo transit from ports via the railway," said Kouchi.

"It is expected that operation of Shiraz – Bushehr railway would transport 800,000 passengers and 3 million tons of goods in its first year of work," he added.

"About 310 kilometers of the 437-kilometer railway would be built in Fars Province and the rest would be in Bushehr Province," he noted.

"Parts of installation of the railroad in Fars Province and Bushehr have started and construction of the project would be backed up by foreign investments," he said.

Kouchi said that the Golgohar – Shiraz railway project is another important plan in south of Iran that would have a key role in cargo transport between Hormozgan, Kerman and Fars provinces.

"The ongoing railway projects in Fars Province would reduce traffic, increase safety of passengers and help develop economy," he noted.
