Iran's Hamadan-Sanandaj railway to be put into operation

Iran's Hamadan-Sanandaj railway will be commissioned by the end of next Iranian year (from March 21, 2021 to March 21, 2022), Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Mohammad Eslami said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

He made the remark at an event dedicated to start of the laying of rails on the Hamadan-Sanandaj railway.

The minister noted that in addition, a railway line is being laid to connect Hamadan city to Malayer city.

Eslami added that a total of 7 railway lines are currently under construction in Iran. With the laying of these railway lines, the west provinces of Iran will be completely provided with railways.

A railway is being laid from the Hamadan city of Hamadan Province to Sanandaj city of Kurdistan province. The length of this railway is more than 150 kilometers. The railway line is divided into three parts. There is 83 percent progress in infrastructure development in 1st part, 70 percent in 2nd, and 100 percent in 3rd part.

So far, 3.95 trillion rials (about $94 million) has been spent on the construction of the railway line. More 12.4 trillion rials (about $296 million) is needed for improving of the railway.
