The owners of cargo trailers and semi-trailers are charged to pay the appropriate fees and charges when entering Turkmenistan in case if they don’t use foreign haulers during transit through its territory, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The relevant decree was signed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The payments are set for the period from November 15, 2020 to November 15, 2021.

The payments relate to the states that are members of the Agreement on the Establishment of an International Transport and Transit Corridor between Iran, Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan (the Ashgabat Agreement) and The agreement on transit and transport cooperation ( Lapis Lazuli Route agreement).

Also, payments are levied on owners of trailers and semi-trailers of overseas countries passing through the territory of the above-mentioned states when entering Turkmenistan and in case of non-use of foreign haulers when passing through its territory in transit.

According to the decree, these fees and payments will be collected by authorized banks and sent to the State fund for development of the Golden Age of Turkmenistan.

The decree also directs the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the State Customs Service and the Turkmenawtoulaglary Agency (Turkmen automobile service), together with the Ministry of Justice to prepare and submit to the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan proposals on amendments and additions to the legislation of Turkmenistan arising from this decree within a month.
