UzAuto Motors has signed a contract for the supply of 8,750 Chevrolet Equinox cars to Uzbekistan in 2020-2021, Trend reports referring to the data of the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange JSC.
The contract with General Motors Overseas Distribution LLC was signed on November 27, 2019. The amount of the agreement is $199.9 million, or about $22,846 per car of this model (Carriage and Insurance Paid price).
At the same time, UzAuto Motors sells Equinox in the domestic market for 349 million soums ($33,665 at the exchange rate of the Central Bank on November 8), which is higher than the import price by $10,819, or 47 percent.
In April 2020, UzAuto Motors also signed a contract with GM Korea Company for the supply of Malibu vehicles (1.5T / 2.0T LT / 2.0 T LTZ) for $57.3 million. The number of cars and their price was not indicated.
In July 2019, the planned level of localization of the new Chevrolet Onix sedan and other models of UzAuto Motors, including Damas, Lacetti, Spark, Nexia, and Cobalt was announced.
The cost of foreign-made parts in Onix was then estimated at $2,300, local – $4,200, Lacetti - $4,319 and 2,938, Spark - $2,393 and $2,984, Nexia - $2,995 and $3,500, Cobalt – $2,656 and $3,488 and Tracker - $4,000 and $6,400. The final cost of the car is also influenced by the costs of logistics, labor, bank loans and other costs.
The net profit of UzAuto Motors for 2019 was estimated at 2.65 trillion soums ($256 million).
