BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov.15

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Since the beginning of 2020, Russia, Turkey, and Iran have been leading in terms of cargo transportation from Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association (ABADA) told Trend.

As the association emphasized, in the near future it is planned to introduce electronic capabilities to more quickly receive and efficiently calculate data on transportation with these countries. The new TIR-EPD advance notification technology will allow holders of International Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) to send free electronic advance information on the carriage of goods.

"Most of the traffic today is carried out on CMR-waybills, which are kept by the operators themselves," the association said.

According to the source, concerning the topic of modernization of the transportation process, the association emphasized that in order to increase the attractiveness of international road freight transportation, it is also necessary to strengthen work to protect the interests of local drivers, create conditions for purchasing cars on preferential terms, create modern transport enterprises and increase the production of export-oriented products:

"It is difficult for private transport companies to purchase the necessary vehicles for $200,000. For this it is necessary to improve the leasing and tax systems," the association emphasized

The association recalled that in 2019, ABADA issued over 1,800 TIR.

ABADA is a non-profit organization uniting Azerbaijani individuals and legal entities that carry out international transportation by road freight transport. It was created in May 1993.
