Cargo transportation volumes surge in West Kazakhstan

A total of 370.7 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in Oct. 2020, which is 4.3 percent less than in Oct. 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of cargo transported over ten months of 2020 amounted to 3.2 billion tons, which is 7.1 percent less year-on-year compared to 3.4 billion tons over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 71.5 million tons in October and 592.3 million tons in over ten months of 2020, which is 12.4 percent and 15.3 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 61.3 million tons transported in Oct. 2020 (decrease of 1.5 percent compared to Oct. 2019). The volume of cargo transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 526.3 million tons, which compared to 536.5 million during the same period last year, indicates a 1.9-percent decrease.

Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in Oct. 2020 (32.3 million tons, increase by 0.1 percent). The volume of cargo transported in the region over ten months of 2020 amounted to 247.9 million tons, which is 6 percent less than during the same period last year (263.6 million tons).

The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 4.5 million tons of cargo in Oct. 2020, which is 24.1 percent more than in Oct. 2019. The volume of cargo transported over ten months of 2020 was 32.5 million tons, which is 1.1 percent more year-on-year.
