Kazakhstan’s Aktau seaport has handled 8,657 TEU of containers on the Aktau-Baku-Aktau route from January through August 2020, Aktau port’s representative told Trend on Nov.17.
The official said that the shipments were carried out within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), and currently, the Aktau-Baku (Alat)-Aktau regular feeder container service continues to operate within TITR.
The container shipments amounted to 747 TEU in August 2020, which is down compared to the previous month (1,372 TEU). Thus, the overall volume of containers handled on the route was 83.6 percent less than in July this year.
The TITR route runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and further to European countries.
Currently, there are three operating seaports in Kazakhstan serving ships of different tonnages: Aktau, Bautino, and Kuryk.
Aktau International Commercial Sea Port is located on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea at the intersection of several international transport corridors.
Bautino сargo port is a division of the Aktau International Commercial Sea Port and is located in the village of Bautino (150 km from the city of Aktau).
