By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

The New 12th bulk cargo terminal will be put into operation in the Georgian port of Poti, Trend reports via Georgian media.

According to Sergo Batsiashvili, Director of Bulk Cargo Service, the company has purchased new cranes to increase the carrying capacity of bulk cargo.

Bulk Cargo Service and APM Terminal in Poti signed a long-term cooperation agreement on the creation of new bulk cargo handling facilities at the 12th berth of the Poti seaport. The aforementioned cooperation will contribute to the development of new opportunities in the port of Poti and create a competitive environment that will significantly improve the movement of bulk cargo through the transport corridor of Georgia.

In order to improve the efficiency of port services and cargo handling, Bulk Cargo Service has acquired two mobile harbor cranes of the leading international brands Liebherr A944CHD and Sennnebogen 680HMC, which will be located at the 12th terminal of the Poti seaport by the end of this year.

The Liebherr A944CHD and Sennnebogen 680HMC will enable the port of Poti to handle an additional 150,000 tonnes of bulk cargo per year and handle 3,000 to 5,000 tonnes of cargo ships.

“Our company's strategic priorities are to seize market opportunities and offer competitive, cargo-oriented services thanks to 25 years of experience in ports,” said Batsiashvili.
