Azerbaijan's transport sector expanding cooperation with Turkey and China

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 13

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The first freight train with export goods from Turkey to the Chinese city of Xian arrived in Azerbaijan this week, the Baku seaport told Trend.

Beket Ata feeder ship transports containers from the Baku seaport to Kazakhstan’s port of Aktau, which is operated by Azerbaijan’s ADY Container company.

These trains - ADY Container (Azerbaijan), KTZ Express (Kazakhstan), GR Logistics (Georgia) and Pacific Eurasia Logistics (Turkey) will run regularly twice a month from 2021.

Moreover, Azerbaijani Deputy Transport Minister Elmir Velizade stressed at the meeting of the member-states of the International Transport Forum that Azerbaijan, being a reliable transit and logistics center, is responsible for its obligations to ensure unhindered transit traffic through its territory.

The statement of analyst of the Azerbaijani Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication Amina Bayramova was another important event of the current week.

"There is great potential between Azerbaijan and Turkey to increase the volume of investments," Bayramova said. "The restoration of the Alat-Julfa railway line and its integration into the Kars-Igdir-Julfa railway line can create a single transport and logistics network."

"It is planned to transport 11,258 tons of coke produced at the SOCAR refinery by late 2020," ADY Express company, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, said.

The company stressed that the transportation of such goods from Azerbaijan to China will continue in the future.
