Kazakhstan reports big increase in revenues from transporting cargo by air

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via air transport amounted to 11.6 billion tenge ($27.6 million) over 2020, which is 30.9 percent more than during the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via air transport in Dec. 2020 amounted to 2.2 billion tenge ($5.2 million), which is 2.5 times more than during the same period of 2019.

The volume of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage transported via air transport during the reporting period amounted to 24,200 tons, which is 9.2 percent less compared to the same period of last year (3,700 tons in Dec. 2020, increase by 44.9 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 56.2 million ton-kilometers which is 32.8 percent less than during the same period of last year (7.5 million in Dec. 2020, a decrease of 20.3 percent).

In turn, Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation amounted to 176.07 billion tenge ($419.2 million) over 2020, which 51.6 percent less than during the same period of last year. December’s revenue from passenger transportation was 15.3 billion tenge ($36.6 million), which is 50.3 percent less than in Dec. 2019.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 5.4 million people, which is 36.3 percent less than during the same period of last year (543,100 passengers in Dec. 2020, down by 27.6 percent).

The passenger turnover amounted to 8.3 billion passenger-kilometers which compared to the same period of last year is a decrease of 50.8 percent. December’s passenger turnover was 767.6 million (45.7 percent decrease year-on-year).
