Iranian Railways has applied significant discounts on goods transportation to/from Uzbekistan and transit through Iran to / from Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the embassy of Uzbekistan in Tehran.
According to the embassy, the leadership of the Organization of Railways (OR) of Iran expressed its gratitude to Uzbekistan Railways JSC for fruitful cooperation in the field of railway transport.
This is indicated in the response letter of the chairman of the board and general director of the OR Iran Said Rasuli, addressed to the acting chairman of Uzbekistan Railways JSC Khusnutdin Khasilov.
Based on the letter from the management of Uzbekistan Railways addressed to the Director General of the Iranian Railways, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Tehran worked out the issues of prolonging the current tariff preferences for the transit of Uzbek export-oriented goods through Iran by the end of this year.
The Embassy of Uzbekistan received a letter in response, in which it is reported that in order to further stimulate the transportation of goods by rail, the OR of Iran left stable tariff rates for cargo transportation through the territory of Iran and applied significant discounts on the transportation of goods to/from Uzbekistan and transit through Iran to from Uzbekistan.
It was noted that tariff preferences were provided for the transportation of such export goods of Uzbek producers as textile and agricultural products, mineral fertilizers, oil products and certain types of building materials through the territory of Iran.
In addition, Iranian Railways expressed its readiness for mutually beneficial partnership with Uzbekistan for further expansion of bilateral Uzbek-Iranian cooperation in the field of railway transport.
