Uzbekistan, Pakistan agree to consider opportunities for dev’t of road and air freight transportation

Uzbekistan and Pakistan agreed on consideration of the possibilities for the development of road and air freight transportation between countries, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

The issue was discussed by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Abdul Razak Davud while exchanging views on the prospects for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that despite the pandemic active contacts and exchanges continue, contributing, first, to the progressive expansion of practical interaction between the two countries. He also added that the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Pakistan is growing, the number of joint cooperation projects of leading companies is increasing.

In turn, Abdul Razak Davud stressed that Pakistan highly appreciates and supports the initiative to advance the project for the construction of a railway through the territory of Afghanistan, which will connect Central and South Asia with the shortest route, and will allow entering and effectively using the infrastructure of Pakistani seaports.

In addition, agreements were reached on considering the possibilities of developing road and air freight transportation, preparing an agreement on preferential trade, exchanging experience in the field of customs, intensifying business dialogue, and holding business events.
