Founder of Indian Jet Airways eyes opening airline in Uzbekistan’s Namangan region

UAE entrepreneur, founder of Indian Jet Airways and MJ Developers Murari Lal Jalan plans to open an airline in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to The Hindu Business Line.

According to the information, Murari Lal Jalan is discussing with the government of Uzbekistan and Namangan region the construction of a new airport in Namangan, as well as the creation of a new full-service airline.

“The airline will give a major boost to the aviation and tourism sector in Uzbekistan,” the statement said.

It is reported that at the first stage, it is planned to serve the countries of the CIS and the European Union. It was noted that the entrepreneur will be the majority shareholder of both the airport and the airline.

According to the publication, the launch of the airport was expected in the first quarter of 2021, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The airline's fleet will consist of 25 aircraft, including the B737 Max, Airbus A330 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

In addition, the airline will have a dedicated HNI and Ultra HNI service unit with a fleet of Bombardier, Hawkers and Augusta aircraft and helicopters.
