The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 18.1 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, 123 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the last year. Of this, 69.7 million tons were loaded and 53.4 million tons were unloaded.

“So, 45.6 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the last Iranian year. About 28 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded, 17.5 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 4.3 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 22.8 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the last Iranian year, which is a decrease of 7.1 percent compared to the preceding year. Of this, 1.54 million tons were loaded and 21.3 million tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the data, 8.73 million tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within last year. This is an increase of 0.8 percent compared to the preceding year. Of this, 7.96 million tons were loaded and 774,000 tons were unloaded.

“Moreover, 22 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the reporting period. About 19.6 million tons were of goods were loaded, 2.4 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 33.2 percent compared to the preceding year,” the statistics said.

At the same time, last year, 382,000 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports, which is a decrease of 12.6 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. Thus, about 59,700 tons of goods were loaded and 323,000 tons were loaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 4 million tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the last Iranian year. Of this, 3,200 tons were loaded and 799,000 tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 4 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year.

“Furthermore, 882,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within last year. About 27,700 tons of goods were loaded and 854,000 tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 12.5 percent compared to the preceding year,” the statistics said.

During last year, 5.91 million tons of small and assorted goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports, which is a decrease of 18.4 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year. Of this, 2.97 million tons were loaded and 2.94 million tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 12.7 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports last year. Of this, 6.36 million tons were loaded and 6.39 million tons were unloaded. This is a decrease of 46.6 percent compared to the preceding year.

“Also, 54.4 million tons of goods were exported and 29.5 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Meanwhile, 1.1 million tons of goods were loaded and 2.18 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, last year, 10.1 million tons of goods were loaded and 20.3 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage.

At the same time, 844,000 tons of goods were loaded and 764,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“A total of 203,000 tons of goods were loaded and 623,000 tons were unloaded for in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
