Volume of cargo loaded, unloaded in Iran’s Chabahar port declines

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran) decreased by 0.6 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 2.97 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port over the last Iranian year. So, 137,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.83 million tons were unloaded in the port.

“Furthermore, 105,000 tons of cargo were exported and 1.3 million tons were imported through the Chabahar port last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

At the same time, 9,540 tons of cargo were loaded and 110,000 tons were unloaded in this port for transit, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 1.41 million tons of cargo were unloaded in the Chabahar port for cabotage last Iranian year.

“Within last Iranian year, 749 tons of cargo were unloaded in the port for transshipment, as well as, 23,200 tons of cargo were loaded, 240 tons were unloaded for other purposes,” the statistics said.

So, 1.23 million tons of essential products, 20 tons of metal products, 98,200 tons of construction and mining materials, 14,000 tons of equipment, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port during the last Iranian year.

Moreover, 127 tons of chemicals, 3,020 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 5,600 tons of small and assorted products, 199,000 tons of container products and 1.41 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port over the reporting period, the statistics said.

Reportedly, a total of 123 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports last Iranian year. This is a decrease of 18.1 percent compared to the preceding year. So, 150 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the preceding year.
