Longest tunnel in Iran to be opened by end of spring

The Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Kheirollah Khademi said that the longest tunnel in the country will be opened on the second section of the Tehran-North Freeway by the end of spring.

Referring to the latest situation with the Tehran-North freeway, Khademi said that that the 2nd section of Tehran-North freeway is one of the four most difficult parts of this freeway`s constriction,” Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Construction of 8.5 kilometers of tunnels and sidewalks will be completed by the end of spring," he said.

He went on to say that the estimation made in early 2020 envisaged that a runway along with the construction of the Alborz tunnel would cost nearly $571 billion.

“At present, nearly $559 billion have been provided, of which $119 billion have been provided by the government and the rest by the Mostazafan Foundation of Islamic Revolution" he said.
