Uzbekistan suspends flights to Turkey and India

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8

Uzbekistan is suspending flights to Turkey and India until the epidemiological situation related to COVID-19 improves, Trend reports referring to the Special Republican Commission for Preparation of a Program of Measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Uzbekistan.

According to the information, starting from May 10, all charter flights from Uzbekistan to India and Turkey will be suspended until the epidemiological situation improves.

Also, the airports of Fergana, Urgench and Samarkand will not accept planes from Istanbul (Turkey) till June 1.

It is also reported that flights on the Tashkent-Istanbul route will be reduced on a parity basis starting from May 10.

In terms of the number of people infected with coronavirus, India ranks second in the world after the United States (more than 32.6 million people fell ill there).

At the same time, according to the Turkish Ministry of Health, 20,107 cases of coronavirus were recorded in the country per day.
