The ministers of transport of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan signed an agreement on the transit of goods through the territory of Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Uzbek media.

According to the official representative of the president of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov, during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan, the governments of the two countries signed an agreement on the transit of goods through the territory of Uzbekistan.

It was also agreed that Uzbekistan and Tajikistan will continue to create favorable conditions for expanding cooperation in the field of transport and transit, increasing rail, road and air transport.

“In particular, road transport will be expanded, and bus and rail links will be resumed. We will continue to provide transportation preferences,” Asadov said.

On June 10 Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the invitation of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon left for an official visit to Tajikistan. On the first day of the visit, the head of state was met at the Dushanbe international airport and took part in a solemn ceremony at the Kasri Millat residence. The leaders of the two countries met first in a narrow and then in an expanded format.

In addition, the opening ceremony of social facilities built in the Samarkand and Khatlon regions took place. As a result, 35 documents were signed between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
