Russia proposed to accelerate the preparation of a memorandum on the creation of a green transport railway corridor between Russia and Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
The delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan, headed by First Deputy Minister Ilkhom Norkulov, held a meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, in which First Deputy Minister Andrei Ivanov and Deputy Ministers Dmitry Volvach and Polina Kryuchkova from the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia took part.
During the meeting, Volvach proposed to speed up the preparation of a memorandum on the creation of a green transport railway corridor between Russia and Uzbekistan, which will significantly intensify mutual trade.
In addition, representatives of Uzbekistan and Russia reviewed the preparations for the second forum of interregional cooperation with the participation of heads of state.
The delegation of Uzbekistan showed interest in the Russian experience of participation in cross-border cooperation programs. In this context, the Russian side drew attention to the successful experience of implementing these programs with the EU countries.
“Despite different periods of relations with the European Union, the projects did not stop and were implemented on time,” said Dmitry Volvach, specifying that a new package of cross-border programs until 2027 is currently being prepared.
Ivanov came up with an initiative to create a roadmap to intensify bilateral cooperation in the field of investment policy and implement projects to increase labor productivity. He also drew the attention of his colleagues from Uzbekistan to the fact that soon the Ministry of Economic Development plans to launch digital ecosystems in these two areas of work.
In particular, the services of the digital ecosystem of the national project ‘Labor Productivity’ will allow participating enterprises to carry out business diagnostics in real time, identifying problem areas, as well as simulate development scenarios associated with the introduction of new products, the implementation of strategic orders and even with the reengineering of the entire production system.
Bilateral trade between Russia and Uzbekistan in 2020 grew despite restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. Mutual trade remained at the level of the previous year during the period from January through March.
It was noted that the development of bilateral ties between countries is facilitated by the implementation of the intergovernmental Program for Economic Cooperation until 2024, as well as the Action Plan for it, which includes more than 50 projects in industry, energy, agriculture, financial and banking, infrastructure, information and communication spheres, etc.
