Lithuanian cargo terminals ready to serve cargo flows from Uzbekistan

Lithuanian cargo terminals are ready to serve cargo flows from Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Lithuania told Trend.

According to the ministry, rowing import and export volumes to and from Uzbekistan require more time-efficient and economically sustainable supply chains.

“Lithuania actively participates in the implementation of intermodal transport projects, which allow the country to become an important link in the global supply chain between Asia and Europe, ensuring competitive prices and continuity of transport and logistics services,” the ministry noted.

In addition, it was noted that Lithuania, as a transit country, has a well-developed transport infrastructure and a network of logistics centers, therefore the modern and efficient port of Klaipeda, which is the northernmost ice-free port in the Baltic Sea and can offer Uzbekistan safe, fast, and competitive cargo transportation to the European Union market.

“Lithuanian cargo terminals are ready to serve cargo flows from Uzbekistan by performing cargo collection, distribution, packaging, and performance of other operations in Klaipeda Seaport,” the ministry stressed.

Lithuanian ministry also said that railway transport in the country provides efficient long-distance cargo services.

“Direct rail routes connect Lithuania with Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Latvia, Poland, and Germany. The country is a part of the continental TRASECA railway network, which allows easy transportation of cargo from Lithuania to Asian countries, including Uzbekistan,” the message said.

Moreover, bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Uzbekistan is being developed in accordance with the signed intergovernmental agreements, including:

- on the International Carriage of Passengers and Goods by Road (signed in Tashkent, February 20, 1997).

- on Cooperation in the Field of Railway Transport (signed in Tashkent, February 20, 1997).

- on Air Transport and Cooperation in the Field of Air Transport (signed in Vilnius, June 7, 1995).

- on the Provision of Transport and Other Services for the Transportation of Cargo of Uzbekistan through Klaipeda State Seaport (signed in Tashkent, February 20, 1997).
