The highest ever number of containers was sent from Turkey to Azerbaijan within the framework of the new logictical product - TURKUAZ project, Trend reports on July 16 referring to a source in ADY Container LLC.
According to the source, the company continues to attract additional types of cargo for transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway corridor to increase its transport capacities.
“For the first time within TURKUAZ project the block train with 48 45-foot containers departed from Turkey to Azerbaijan, which is the highest ever number of containers,” the source said. “Powdered sugar with a total weight of 1,344 tons will be supplied to Baku from the Turkish city of Konya in these containers.”
The TURKUAZ express block train - a new logistics product developed by ADY Container together with partners from Turkey and Georgia, will carry out cargo transportation twice a week from Turkish cities to Baku and in the opposite direction.
In June, ADY Container transported a total of 222 containers or 5,994 tons of cargo through the BTK. Some 82 containers (over 2,200 tons) with chemical products were sent from Azerbaijan to Turkey on four container block trains, and 140 containers (3,780 tons) were sent from Turkey to Azerbaijan by five block trains.
