Azerbaijan notes increase in cargo handling by road

The total cost of goods transported by road in Azerbaijan made up over $4.35 billion in the first half of 2021, which is 17.3 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing a report from the country’s State Customs Committee (SCC).

From January through June 2021, the volume of cargo transportation by road exceeded 2.2 million tons, which is 21.6 percent more compared to the same period of 2020,” the SCC said.

“The export of goods by road increased by 29.2 percent and amounted to 863,707 tons, and in terms of money to $802 million (an increase of 29.1 percent on annual basis). At the same time, the value of Azerbaijan’s imports amounted to 1.34 million tons (an increase of 17.2 percent), and the value – over $3.5 billion (an increase of 19.3 percent).

During the reporting period, the trade turnover of Azerbaijan amounted to $14.2 billion, including exports - $8.81 billion, imports - over $5.39 billion.
