The volume of cargo transportation by railway in Azerbaijan had slightly grown from January through July 2021, Trend reports citing the report of the State Statistical Committee.
According to the committee, this indicator amounted to 8.4 million tons, which is an increase of 0.9 percent on annual basis.
At the same time, passenger traffic by the mentioned mode of transport decreased by 7.2 percent, standing at 1.32 passengers, the committee said.
The state committee noted that railway transport in the reporting period accounted for 7.8 percent of all cargo transportation.
On average, the number of loaded railway cars per day was 330 and unloaded - 320. The average daily load of cars in the northern railway direction was 16,100 tons, in the western direction – 2,900 tons, and in the southern direction – 700 tons.
In the first seven months of 2021, cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 107.9 million tons, which is the decline of three percent year on year, and passenger traffic – 650.4 million people, down 15.2 percent compared to the same period of 2020.
