Number of trucks crossing through Iran's Jolfa border checkpoint up

The number of trucks crossing through the Jolfa border checkpoint in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) increased by 23 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General of East-Azerbaijan Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Orujali Alizadeh said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Alizadeh, a total of 26,700 trucks crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint within the 5 months.

The director general added that the volume of goods exported and imported through the Jolfa border checkpoint amounted to about 215,000 tons over the five months. In addition, 198,000 tons of goods were transited through this checkpoint during the reporting period.

The director general noted that also, 13,000 people crossed the Jolfa border checkpoint in the 5 months.

As reported, the Jolfa border checkpoint is located on the border with Iran and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
