Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization to transfer of port railway operations to private sector

The Deputy Minister of Ports and Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization announced new measures to transfer the railway operator of ports to the private sector, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to reports, the mentioned operation includes unloading and loading of ships and transporting the cargoes to trains, without the need to send them to the warehouse.

"Currently, the ports of Shahid Rajaei, Imam Khomeini, Amirabad, and Khorramshahr are connected to the national rail network,” Farhad Montasar Kouhsary said.

Regarding the transfer of the country's port affairs to the railway operators, he announced that several measures have been taken by the Ports and Maritime Organization to hand over the railway operations to the private sector.

Kouhsary went on to note that a memorandum of understanding has been signed with the RAI on the transfer of railway operations to a single operator.
