Kazakhstan sees twofold increase in volume of passenger transport

A total of 653.06 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in August 2021, which is 2.4 times more than in August 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over eight months of 2021 amounted to 4.1 billion people, which is 40.5 percent less year-on-year compared to 6.9 billion over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 184.7 million people in August and 1.1 billion people over eight months of 2021, which is 2.6 times more and 25.5 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 57.3 million people transported in August 2021 (an increase of 2.7 times compared to August 2020). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 385.6 million people, which compared to 574.2 million during the same period last year, indicates a 32.8-percent decrease.

Pavlodar region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in August 2021 (48.6 million people, up by 2.2 times). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through August 2021 amounted to 340.2 million, which is 23.1 percent less than during the same period last year (442.3 million people).

The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 3.08 million in August 2021, which is 2.4 times more than in August 2020. The volume of passengers transported over eight months of 2021 was 18.7 million, which is 26.4 percent less year-on-year.
