Iran building a new port in Golestan Province

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.15

Iran is building a new port in Golestan Province alongside other civil projects, the Governor of Golestan Province Hadi Haghshenas told Trend.

The Port and Maritime Organization of Iran started studies for construction of the new port and private sector is interested to invest in building the port , Haghshenas noted.

Iranian parliament's Agriculture Commission and the government have approved several bills for this purpose. It is expected that the new port in the province will be used for importing wood.

The watershed management in the province has covered 100,000 hectares in past two years. There are ongoing civil projects in different sectors in Golestan province including construction of a terminal in Gorgan Airport, drainage of agricultural lands and building hospitals.

Establishing of a terminal at the local Gorgan airport was an important project in the province, there are currently ten flying routes to foreign countries including the Gorgan-Aktau flights.

The province started drainage of 100,000 hectares of agricultural land that would help agriculture production and confronting flood.

Also, a construction of a hospital with 1,000 beds is ongoing, while another hospital for 64 beds has recently been inaugurated.
