Iran, Pakistan to accelerate cargo transit

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.10

Trend:

Iran and Pakistan are agreeing to facilitate transportation of trucks and cargo transit, said Minister of Road and Urban Development, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Trucks can directly transit cargo from Iran to China via the Pakistan route while Pakistani trucks could easily transport goods to Europe via Iran, Rostam Ghasemi noted.

Iran has advantages in terms of transportation routes that are expected to generate more income in the future.

The container trains in Iran have transited cargo to Finland in 21 days during the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021). However, the country's railway system requires improvement in its speed to attract merchants and businesses.

The new administration seeks to involve the private sector more to invest in railway transportation and development.
