Iran sees increase in passenger transportation via Shiraz International Airport

The number of passengers transported through Shiraz Shahid Dastghaib International Airport in the Fars Province (southern Iran) increased by 18 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

In total, 1,124,649 passengers have been transported through Shiraz Shahid Dastghaib International Airport within the mentioned period. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 954,541.

According to the statistics, a total of 15,833 flights were carried out through the airport in 7 months, which has increased by 43 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 11,069 flights had been carried out through this airport in the same period last Iranian year.

“Within 7 months, 12,246 tons of cargo were transported through Shiraz Shahid Dastghaib International Airport. Cargo transportation increased by about 38 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 8,861 tons of cargo have been transported via the airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

As reported, Shiraz Shahid Dastghaib International Airport is located on 500 hectares of land. The airport can receive 10 million passengers a year.
