Iran eyes increase in flights via Rasht International Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 7

The number of flights (passenger planes only) through the Rasht Sardar-e-Jangal International Airport in the Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 22 percent, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, a total of 2,166 flights were operated through the airport in 7 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 1,770.

“In 7 months, 146,782 passengers were transported via the Rasht Sardar-e-Jangal International Airport. Passenger transportation increased by 11 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 132,134 passengers had been transported in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 1,545 tons of cargo were transported through this airport for the reporting period, which is an increase of 22 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, cargo transportation amounted to 1,270 tons.

Reportedly, Iran's Rasht Sardar Jangal International Airport is located on an area of 220 hectares.
