Cargo traffic on the Azerbaijani section of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) grew from January through November 2021, Azerbaijan’s State Statistical Committee told Trend.
According to the committee, this figure exceeded 36.4 million tons, up by 853,000 tons (2.4 percent) on annual basis.
In the first 11 months of last year, the cargo turnover on the Azerbaijani section of TRACECA exceeded 8.6 billion ton-kilometers, which is 2.6 percent more than a year earlier.
The cargo transportation by road accounted for over 20.1 million tons, or 55.3 percent of the total volume, railway transport – more than 12.1 million tons (33.4 percent), and sea transport – 4.1 million tons (11.3 percent).
Out of the total volume of cargo transportation, transit cargo transportation accounted for over 7.9 million tons (21.9 percent).
